Asbestos Consulting

“Asbestos” is a general term applied to a group of fibrous naturally-occurring rock minerals that have been, and continue to be, productively used for an array of applications. Properties that made this a material of choice included its tensile strength, chemical inertness, and heat resistance; by and large the application of greatest impact to building owners is its use for fire safety. Nationwide regulation of asbestos in the U.S. began in the 1970s as their role in causing lung cancer and similar diseases became more widely understood. The actual, or “presumed” presence of asbestos-containing building materials demands that owners be knowledgeable of the condition of their assets, and manage these materials safely and in accordance with an array of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
